Australia’s opening of the border to Singapore facilitates international students return
Fully vaccinated travellers can enter Australia
The first batch of international students has arrived in the country from Singapore. Fully vaccinated passengers can enter Australia without having a quarantine after arriving. Two flights containing international students have reached Australia. This is the first batch of students arriving in the country since the COVID pandemic. Another batch of students will arrive in December.
“Universities have worked closely with government and health authorities for more than 18 months on plans to safely welcome back our international friends”, said Catriona Jackson, Chief Executive of Universities Australia. The education industry in the country was crippled due to the border restrictions due to the pandemic.
Universities in the country have a loss of 4.9 % in their revenue in 2020 as a result of the pandemic.
