5 Colleges will be Upgraded to Universities, Says Assam CM

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that five colleges in Assam will be upgraded to universities in connection with NEP(National Education Policy)2020.
It was also informed that decision regarding implementing NEP in the state will be considered in the next cabinet meeting. The cabinet meeting will take place on November 25.
” The NEP requires stand-alone universities. We have three autonomous colleges now, JB(Jorhat), Lakhimpur, and Nagaon Colleges. These will be made into universities. Besides these three, we will upgrade Sibsagar College and Handique Girls College(Guwahati) to universities”, CM said in the inaugural session of the two-day North East Education Conclave. CM also said that NEP has given the opportunity for students in enhancing their knowledge.
