The National Law Institute University (NLIU) is the center for research and a law school established in the year 1997. It is situated in Bhopal, India and is rated among the top three law schools. The university takes 100 undergraduates every year through CLAT (Common Law Admission Test). The students are supposed to complete a total of fifteen trimesters before they can be conferred a combined degree of B.A., LL.B (Hons). Each year is divided into a total of three trimesters each of seventy working days. Students are expected to attempt one paper in each course which is later followed by a meaningful thesis in the seminar courses.

 

NLIU offers four courses at different levels. B.A. LL.B (Hons) is included at the undergraduate level and its duration is five years. LL.M and M.Sc. are offered at the postgraduate level and Ph.D. is included under the research level having a duration of two years each. CLAT for B.A. LL.B and LL.M would be held on 14th May while the results for the same would be declared on 29th May. The entrance test for M.Sc. would be conducted on May 15.

The application form for the test can be obtained online from the official website of the university which would be followed by an offline submission of the relevant documents along with the fees and the application form.

NLIU B.A.LL.B. Admission 2021

NLIU offers B.A. LL.B. course to the candidates, the eligibility criteria for the same is given as under.

B.A. LL.B. Students must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board.

Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam with a minimum of 45% in case the candidate belongs to the OBC/Unreserved/ SAP (Specially Abled Persons) category and 40% in case the candidate belongs to the SC or ST category. The candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in March or April are also eligible to apply for the entrance examination but must produce an evidence of passing the examination at the time of the admission. Failing to do so will result in being disqualified for the admission. The academic session for B.A.LL.B. would commence from July 01.

Out of the 68 seats available for the general category candidates, 26 are reserved for the candidates belonging to the Madhya Pradesh State Domicile. 2 seats are also reserved for candidates from Jammu & Kashmir. 30% seats are reserved for women and 3% for Persons with Disability. NRI students must be an NRI/OCI/POI card holder or be sponsored by a first or a second-degree relation who is an NRI/OCI/POI card holder.

NLIU M.Sc. Admission 2021

The M.Sc. course is offered at the postgraduate level by the university. All the candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria can appear for the All India Written Entrance Test and Personal Interview.

NLIU Ph.D. Admission 2021

The University offers several Ph.D. programs which the students can choose from.

The candidate must have scored an aggregate of 50% marks in the qualifying exam to be eligible for the entrance exam for Ph.D. The application forms can be obtained online from the official website of the university. Rs. 1,500 needs to be paid for the application and the fees must be paid through a demand draft that should be drawn in favor of the Director of the National Law Institute University, Bhopal. The eligible candidates for Ph.D. would be selected on the basis of a written test and an Interview that would be conducted by the University.

NLIU LL.M Admission 2021

The University offers postgraduate programs for LL.M. to all the candidates who are able to fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria.

Candidates must have passed the qualifying exam with a minimum of 55% marks in case the candidate belongs to OBC/Unreserved/SAP (Specially Abled Persons) category and 50% marks in case the candidate belongs to SC or ST category. Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in March or April are also eligible to apply for the entrance examination but must provide an evidence of passing their qualifying examination in their respective Universities during the time of the admission. Failing to do so will result in being disqualified for the admission.

The candidates belonging to the unreserved/OBC/SAP category have to submit an application fee of INR 4,000. The candidates belonging to the SC or ST category have to submit an application fee of INR 3,500 only. The amount can either be deposited through an e-Challan or Online. There might be some additional bank charges which may apply above the transactions. The application fee submitted is non-refundable in any situation.

Candidates must apply for CLAT online only. CAPS is the interface through which candidates can do a maximum of their interactions. It is provided at the official website of CLAT. It is through CAPS that a candidate can check the current status of their application, know their results, download the examination admit card and can also download the score card and result. For applying a candidate must register oneself and then proceed to fill the application form. A candidate who wants to appear for the CLAT has to compulsorily register oneself on the CAPS website.

NLIU B.A. LL.B. and LL.M. Selection Criteria

The selection would be done on the basis of CLAT wherein the examination would be conducted online. There would be 200 questions in total from five subjects namely
